I am absolutely passionate about animals, and will never use creatures which have been deliberately hunted, or trapped. All animals I use will have been donated by my dear friends, and have all died from natural causes.
Those of you who know me, know that, not only do I love Gothic jewellery, but also love a bit of the macabre. So, when some tiny mummified sparrow skulls came into my possession recently, I wanted to try and preserve them; hence my current fascination with bird skulls - and the name for my collection 'IMMORTAL'.
Witnessing my excitement about my little sparrow skulls, my friend and fellow jeweller Krista very kindly offered me her ‘found’ crow and mink skulls so I could make a mould of them. Once people knew I was interested in animal skulls, I have been offered all sorts of bones - some of which unfortunately have been broken. I don't plan to discard these - I feel they too deserve to be immortalised.
So, for those fellow macabre lovers, I aim to cast these little beauties in bronze, pewter, and silver.
